Since Google went public, all its movements have been scrutinized by the market; it seems to exist some kind of obssesive interest for all the things surrounding the company. This news could be just one more sign of that situation... or not. The thing is that, as you can read in this article from Internet.com's E-Commerce channel, Larry Page has filed the U.S. Pattent Application No. 20040122811 with a quite generic name: "Method for searching media". So you have all the analysts out there speculating on the posibility that Google could be trying to capitalize on its News service through some kind of permission protocol probably aimed at a subscription-like access to "electronic contents".
